Regeration & Salvation
Regeneration & Salvation
I run into many Christians that aren’t aware that there is a difference in Regeneration and Salvation. They happen separately with different results. Both are necessary to get to heaven.
Webster’s dictionary gives the basic simple definition as,” The activity of spiritual or physical renewal”.
They insert many examples of the physical and go on to say that the spiritual is the new birth citing II Cor. 5:17 as their reference. In this Mr. Webster is wrong. Regeneration does not put one into the body of Christ. The heart and mind of man is evil and desperately wicked, Jer.17:9 and man does not have the ability to choose Christ on His own, Man has to be drawn to Christ , John 6:44. God puts the desire into the heart of man to seek Jesus and that is Regeneration. It puts in one the desire to seek Jesus as Savior.
Mr. Easton says it very well in his Illustrated Bible Dictionary
“Regeneration is the spiritual change wrought in the heart of man by the Holy Spirit in which his/her inherently sinful nature is changed so that he/she can respond to God in Faith, and live in accordance with His Will (Matt. 19:28; John 3:3,5,7; Titus 3:5). It extends to the whole nature of man, altering his governing disposition, illuminating his mind, freeing his will, and renewing his nature”
Webster’s basic simple definition is, “the act of delivering from sin or saving from evil.”
Mr. Webster gives some natural and the spiritual example of salvation and he is right on this time.
Many people see the term saved and salvation as synonymous but they are not. Salvation is the pre and post process of being saved which is the result of that process
The pre process is being Regenerated as a result of Gods Grace and the exercise of your saving faith after regeneration. Eph. 2:8-9
God is in total control of the pre salvation process. It is He who softens and guides the heart. It is He who grants that we can believe (Phil. 1:29) and causes us to be born again (1 Pet. 1:3) After being Saved the post prosess of Salvation continues forever. We have been Saved therefore we have Salvatioin
